Urgent Care

Urgent care is for medical issues that are not emergencies, but still require prompt attention. Appointments are not required for in person urgent care.

Urgent Care When and Where You Need It

You can’t predict when you might get sick or hurt, but WVU Medicine Urgent Care can provide the help you need for non-emergency health issues. Our team treats people of all ages for a wide range of illnesses and injuries, including: abdominal pain, broken bones, coughs, colds, flu, infections, rashes, sprains, strains, and more.

No appointment is necessary at our clinics. Video visits are also available. Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays – we’re ready to get you back on track as quickly as possible. Most of our locations are open seven days a week, with on-site lab and x-ray services, for one-stop care by our friendly, professional staff. And because we are part of WVU Medicine, we can easily refer you for follow-up or specialty care, if needed.

Referrals are not required. Most insurance plans are accepted. Some services are not available at all locations.

What should I bring to my urgent care visit?

  • Photo ID (driver’s license or state-issued ID)
  • Health insurance card (insurance cards and, if applicable, Medicare/Medicaid cards)
  • Medication list (a written list of all current prescription and over-the-counter medications)
  • Relevant medical information (any pertinent test results, scans, or a brief health history)
  • Method of payment (credit card or other payment methods for copays/charges)
  • Forms (any required paperwork for school, work, or sports physicals)

Virtual Urgent Care

With virtual urgent care, you can get same-day or next-day care from a WVU Medicine provider for minor illnesses without traveling or spending time in a waiting room. You do not need to be a WVU Medicine patient to receive care, but you do need to be located in West Virginia or Maryland and have a MyWVUChart account.
