Leadership

I am honored to serve as the inaugural executive chair for the WVU Cancer Institute. As executive chair and director of the WVU Cancer Institute, I have the privilege of leading the Departments of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Cancer Prevention and Control. This responsibility allows me to work closely with senior leaders at WVU and WVU Cancer Institute to strategically plan and grow our clinical and research oncology enterprise.

We are currently undergoing a period of exponential growth. Over the past five years, we have expanded our clinical oncology network across the state and region, and in 2023, the state of West Virginia graciously invested $50 million in the WVU Cancer Institute to help position us to achieve National Cancer Institute designation.

This investment is being used to grow and enhance clinical and translational cancer research, education, training, and outreach and engagement at WVU and throughout the state. Looking ahead, this is a defining era for the WVU Cancer Institute. We are actively expanding the boundaries of clinical care, accelerating breakthrough translational research, and strengthening our educational and outreach networks.

As we strategically unite our clinical and prevention departments, our singular mission remains focused on lessening the cancer burden for the people of West Virginia and the surrounding region.
