Our team knows the hospital can be a scary place, no matter a child’s age. Medical procedures and tests can cause fear and stress, especially for kids. At WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s, we’re committed to keeping your little one calm and relaxed, ensuring the best possible outcome during a diagnostic procedure or treatment.
A team of highly trained pediatric anesthesiologists will provide expert care for each child and ensure their safety and comfort. They will manage a child’s needs before, during and after any procedure or surgery.
Each child’s anesthesia or sedation plan is customized to their specific needs, including age, size, and medical history.
Depending on your child’s needs, they will receive either general anesthesia or sedation. During anesthesia a patient is unconscious and doesn’t respond to sound, touch, or pain. Sedation is more like sleep and can be mild, moderate, or deep.
If your child needs general anesthesia or sedation, our team of providers is here to answer all of your questions. We will make sure your child is safely prepared and that you both know what to expect throughout the process.
