Department of Neuroscience
Advancing the frontiers of brain science through world-class research, graduate education, and collaboration in pursuit of cures for the most challenging neurological conditions.
What We Do
The WVU Department of Neuroscience—housed within the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute—is dedicated to understanding the structure and function of the nervous system and translating those discoveries into better treatments for neurological and psychiatric conditions. Our interdisciplinary community of researchers, educators, and clinicians bridges basic science and clinical medicine to improve lives across West Virginia and the nation.
Who We Are
The Department of Neuroscience is composed of interdisciplinary faculty whose expertise spans basic science, translational research, and clinical neuroscience. Faculty draw from neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology, behavioral medicine, biochemistry, and molecular medicine, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines contemporary brain research. Together, they mentor the next generation of neuroscientists in a rigorous Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. training environment supported by more than 50 state-of-the-art laboratories.
