Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team provides specialized, around-the-clock care for children with cardiac conditions, both before and after heart surgery. They are equipped to manage critically ill patients, including those requiring advanced support such as ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), ensuring the highest level of care during recovery. 

We use a multidisciplinary team model to deliver comprehensive care individualized to each child’s unique needs. This team includes specialists from various disciplines, such as respiratory therapy, occupational, physical, and speech therapists, pharmacists, nursing staff, perfusionists, and more. Each member brings expertise and training focused on caring for pediatric patients with cardiac conditions to ensure all aspects of the child’s health are considered in the care plan. 

Our CICU team is dedicated to monitoring and treating heart conditions and supporting the overall well-being of our patients, from optimizing breathing and mobility to managing medications and ensuring safe recovery. This collaborative approach ensures that every child receives holistic care designed to promote healing, improve outcomes, and support long-term health.
