The WVU Medicine Section of Endocrinology specializes in the treatment of endocrine disorders that encompass multiple hormone-related conditions. These include disorders of the thyroid, adrenal glands, pituitary, reproductive organs, calcium/parathyroid glands, and bones.
Diabetes is the most common endocrine disease in the United States, and the WVU Medicine Section of Endocrinology offers comprehensive services and patient education to effectively manage this chronic disease.
Conditions and Treatment
WVU Medicine endocrinologists treat all diseases and disorders of the endocrine system, including diabetes; disorders of adrenal, pituitary, and reproductive glands; obesity; thyroid disorders, including thyroid cancer; and osteoporosis and calcium disorders; in addition to providing gender-affirming hormone therapy. We provide a comprehensive approach to management of diabetes, including:
- Continuous glucose monitors
- Oral and injection medications
- Meal planning
- Insulin pump therapy
- Patient-centered approach to care with assessment of other comorbidities, such as heart disease or stroke, to help determine the best medication options
- Diabetes education
