If your child’s provider needs to take a deeper look beyond what’s visible to the human eye, they may be scheduled for an imaging test. It could be a standard x-ray or a more specialized exam used to examine the internal structure of the body, like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT scan), Fluoroscopy, or ultrasound.

WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s advanced imaging services help specialists diagnose and treat pediatric conditions with a high degree of accuracy. Our specialists include radiologists, cardiologists and anesthesiologists who are experts in pediatric care.

Recognition

With our precise, high-resolution imaging technology, including expert interpretation of medical images, we work collaboratively with your child’s care team to provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment plans for many complex and common conditions.

  • WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s is the only dedicated pediatric center in the state offering the most advanced 640-slice CT scanner in the industry allowing us to capture clear images of most organs, like the heart and brain, in seconds.
  • Our ultrasound team performs a wide range of advanced imaging studies, many of which are only available at our institution. For example, we are the only site in the region offering contrast enhanced voiding urosonography (ceVUS) for evaluation of vesicoureteral reflux.
  • The O-arm™ surgical imaging system is an interoperative 2-D/3-D imaging device operated by radiology technologist to help confirm alignment and accuracy during spinal procedures within WVU Medicine Golisano Childrens. Because you can determine positioning before the operation ends, the O-arm™ system may help improve the chances of a successful procedure without the need for reoperation.
