How to Get Started

MyWVUChart is designed for Camden Clark Medical Center patients. In order to use MyWVUChart, you will need to be identified in our WVU Medicine system with some patient information. (If you’ve ever been seen by a physician at WVU Medicine, you are already registered in our system.) You will also need to activate your MyWVUChart account.

To activate your account, visit us online at MyWVUChart.com or in person at our HIM department to obtain a temporary activation code. You will have 30 days to activate the system before your temporary code expires.

When you access MyWVUChart for the first time, you will be asked the social security number and date of birth of the patient. You will then be able to create your own user code and password, ensuring your health information is secure.

Individuals seeking proxy access to a family member’s (including children up to age 18) MyWVUChart account must visit an activation site in person with the family member to obtain the necessary signatures.

Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions statement outlines our practices and our sensitivity to your right to privacy. We reserve the right to revoke access at any time, for any reason.

Response to Electronic Communications

WVU Medicine will make its best effort to provide a timely response to electronic inquiries. In some cases, the clinic staff that needs to respond to an electronic inquiry or other communication may not be immediately available. A patient should allow at least four (4) business days for a response. Accordingly, emergency situations should not be submitted electronically.

Furthermore, with respect to any electronic communications sent by the patient, we are only able to respond to such communications based on the information provided by the patient. If there is insufficient information provided, we will be unable to provide accurate and reliable services.

Website Links

MyWVUChart may offer links to related medical websites not managed by WVU Medicine. These link(s) are for a patient’s informational purposes only. WVU Medicine does not endorse and has not verified the accuracy of the information in/on these websites, and the patient should not rely on any of the information found on the websites for purposes of treatment or diagnosis.

Minor Eligibility

An individual must be 12 years of age or older to request a MyWVUChart personal account. Parents or guardians of minor children may request access to the minor child’s account by following the terms outlined in the “Proxy Access” section of this Terms and Conditions statement. Proxies of minor children between the ages of 12 and 17 (inclusive) will need to have dual consents present (one from the minor and one from the proxy) in order to access the minor’s MyWVUChart account. When a minor patient reaches age 18, all proxy access will end.

Proxy Access

Individuals age 12 or older may request proxy access to another individual’s MyWVUChart account by completing the Proxy Access portion of the MyWVUChart Consent Form and submitting it to WVU Medicine. Such access will only be granted to parties with parental rights or legal guardianship over the MyWVUChart account holder and only to the extent that the party requesting proxy access can demonstrate the legal right to the account holder’s medical information. A MyWVUChart account will be activated for both the proxy and the account holder. If the proxy’s legal relationship with the account holder changes, the proxy must inform the appropriate clinic’s Health Information Department immediately.

E-mail Privacy

Patients who are users of MyWVUChart should be aware that they will be notified via e-mail when there is new medical information to be viewed on MyWVUChart. This means that any person with access to a patient’s e-mail will be able to see this notification. This could include the patient’s spouse, employer, or anyone else that can access a patient’s e-mail account. Although no private medical information will be sent, the notification that new medical information is available by accessing MyWVUChart may be information that a patient would not want others to know. Thus, patients should take this into account when providing an e-mail address.

Security and Confidentiality

We afford the same degree of confidentiality to medical information stored on MyWVUChart as is given to medical information stored by WVU Medicine in any other medium. WVU Medicine is committed to protecting the confidentiality of your medical information. Firewall, passwords, encryption, and audit trails are further used to safeguard your information. We shall identify the records released and note the time and date each time a patient accesses MyWVUChart. We have taken steps to make all information received from our online visitors as secure as possible against unauthorized access and use.
