What are the requirements for application to our Internal Medicine Program?
An applicant must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for appointment to an ACGME accredited program sponsored by Thomas Memorial Hospital:
- Graduated from a medical school in the United States or Canada that has been accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Graduated from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States that has been accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Graduated from a medical school outside of the United States or Canada that meets one of the following qualifications:
- Holds a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to appointment.
- Holds a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction in his or her current ACGME specialty/subspecialty program.
- Passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2 CL, or the
Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) Level 1 and Level 2 CE
prior to appointment. - Meet all state and federal legal requirements for employment and medical licensure in West
Virginia prior to appointment. - Foreign national physicians who seek entry into the Sponsoring Institution’s graduate medical
education programs must obtain an appropriate visa that permits clinical training activities prior to
appointment.

| June 4, 2026 | 2027 ERAS season begins at 9:00 am ET. |
| Sept. 2, 2026 | Residency applicants may begin submitting MyERAS® applications to programs at 9:00 am ET. |
| Sept. 23, 2026 | Residency programs may begin reviewing MyERAS applications and MSPEs in the PDWS at 9:00 am ET. |
| May 31, 2027 | 2027 ERAS season ends at 5:00 pm ET. |
Interviews will be held virtually unless otherwise requested.
Our Program participates in the NRMP Match: The program does not discriminate on the basis of sex,

In accordance with AAIM Guidelines, interview invitations are sent only on Tuesdays and Fridays at 4:00
PM EST. Interview invites will be sent starting October 20, 2026.
