Mountains of Hope and the WV Cancer Control Collaborate Partnership

Mountains of Hope (MOH) is West Virginia’s statewide cancer coalition, composed of over 170 members working collaboratively to reduce the burden of cancer in West Virginia. Built on partnerships and using a community-driven approach guided by the West Virginia State Cancer Plan, the coalition implements evidence-based projects and educational efforts around the state to improve cancer outcomes across the cancer continuum.

The West Virginia Cancer Control Collaborative Partnership (WVCCCP) is West Virginia’s CDC-funded comprehensive cancer program, providing programmatic technical assistance to health systems, community-based organizations, and other public health organizations to implement change at the policy, system, and environmental levels. The goal of this program is to achieve sustainable, long-term change that positively impacts cancer outcomes in the state.

West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program

The West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (WVBCCSP) team at the WVU Cancer Institute works with primary care clinics, employers, and community partners to increase breast and cervical cancer screenings in the community with an emphasis on evidence-based interventions. The WVBCCSP also helps eligible West Virginians access free or low-cost screening and diagnostic services through community outreach and education.

West Virginia Colorectal Cancer Screening Program

The West Virginia Program to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening (WV PICCS) partners with federally qualified health centers, community health centers, hospital affiliated primary care clinics, and safety-net free clinics to increase colorectal cancer screening rates across the state. By supporting clinics in delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care, the program is helping more West Virginians detect cancer early, prevent disease before it starts, and access the care they need to live longer, healthier lives.
