The American Heart Association’s (AHA) mission is “building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.” The Grant County Training Center has partnered with AHA to work toward achieving that goal by:

  • Enhancing prevention and disease management
  • Improving the chain of survival and acute care treatment
  • Increasing the number of instructors, providers, partnerships, training materials, and programs

Courses We Offer

The following courses are available:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of the hospital. Providers will enhance skills in treatment of cardiac arrest or cardiopulmonary emergencies. Basic life support CPR and advanced life support interventions are emphasized.

CPR

The Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider course is designed to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

The Heartsaver CPR/AED course is designed for parents, babysitters (over 10 years old), teachers, coaches, personal trainers, foster care, social workers, camp counselors, construction workers, and loggers to provide the ability to recognize emergencies in infants, children, and adults, choke-saving, and how to use an AED.

The Heartsaver First Aid course is designed to cover bleeding control, seizures, EpiPen, allergic reactions, snake bites, broken bones, poisoning, and other life-threatening emergencies.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing their knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Registration Fees

The following fees apply to the courses. Books and materials are an additional cost.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – $75 (Participants will need the ACLS book and must take a pre-test prior to the scheduled class.)
  • CPR – $30
  • First Aid – $30
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – $75 (Participants will need a PALS book and must take the pre-test prior to the scheduled class.)
  • Reprint lost CPR/ACLS/PALS cards – $10

Scheduling

To schedule a class for a group or workplace, please call 304-257-1026, ext. 2138. Instructors are available to go to workplaces, churches, and organizations.
