WVU Medicine Outpatient Lab Services
WVU Medicine offers a comprehensive range of outpatient laboratory services through its Department of Pathology, Anatomy, and Laboratory Medicine. These services include:
- Clinical Chemistry & Mass Spectrometry: Routine and emergency diagnostic testing of blood, urine, and other fluids; includes metabolic panels, lipid assessments, drug monitoring, toxicology screens, and more
- Special Chemistry: Infectious serology, endocrine, allergy, immunology testing, and oncology-related protein profiling
- Molecular Diagnostics & Pathology: Advanced testing for malignant and infectious diseases using modern molecular techniques
- Cytogenetics: Chromosome analysis for perinatal, oncologic, and inherited conditions
- Hematology & Coagulation: Testing for blood disorders, including malignancies and clotting disorders
- Flow Cytometry: Used for diagnosing hematologic malignancies like leukemia and lymphoma
- Microbiology: Investigations into infectious diseases, including bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology
- Blood Bank & Transfusion Services: Comprehensive transfusion support, including specialized blood products
- Cellular Therapy Laboratory: Supports bone marrow and stem cell processing, including CAR-T cell therapy
These labs operate across various WVU Medicine facilities and offer both routine and specialized testing, many available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
