Radiography

Program Description

The Radiography program at WVU Hospitals (WVUH) is a two-year (22-month) certificate program offering comprehensive clinical and didactic education in Radiologic Technology. Successful completion qualifies graduates as eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification exam in Radiography, pending ARRT review and approval. In addition, the program fulfills the educational requirements for all U.S. states requiring state licensure or certification (see Professional Certification and Licensure Disclosure under Program Documents).

Associate's Degree Option

To be eligible to sit for the certification exam in Radiography administered by ARRT, students must document the completion of an associate’s degree (or higher) upon entering or when completing our program. For students entering without a degree, WVUH has partnered with WVU Potomac State College and Pierpont Community and Technical College so that enrolled students can complete an Associate of Applied Science degree in concurrence with their Radiologic Technology education at WVUH. Please review our admission policy below with regards to the degree requirement and the three options for applying for admission consideration.

Admission / Enrollment

The program is authorized to enroll 24 students per year. The deadline for completed applications is March 1 of each year, and the program begins during the first week of August each year. Student selection for enrollment is competitive and is based upon academic qualifications, a personal interview, previous healthcare and/or work experience, and the individual’s projected ability to make a significant contribution to the healthcare profession.
