Rotation Schedule
PGY 1
During the first year of training residents learn about the program, hospital, clinic and fundamentals of being a family physician. They develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with their advisors to begin to align their specific education with their future career goals and interests.
Family Medicine Clinic: 1-2 half days per week for a minimum of 40 weeks per year/approximately 290 hours in clinic
- Introduction to Family Medicine (Orientation) (1 Month)
- Adult Inpatient Medicine Team (2 Months)
- Obstetrics (1 Month/200 hours)
- Infectious Disease (2 weeks)
- Family Medicine Clinic (2 weeks/2 weeks)
- Cardiology (2 weeks)
- Pediatrics – Outpatient / Newborn Nursery (2 Months)
- Emergency Medicine (1 Month)
- Musculoskeletal (MSK) – Orthopedics / Pain Management and Rehabilitation (PMR) (1 Month)
- Neurology (1 Month)
- Pulmonology (2 weeks)
- Nephrology (2weeks)
PGY 2
Second-year residents continue growth in essential areas of family medicine with increased independence, leadership and patient volume expectations. They review and update their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and begin utilizing electives to improve knowledge or prepare for future practice.
Family Medicine Clinic: An average of 3 half days per week for a minimum of 40 weeks per year and approximately 540 hours in clinic
- Adult Inpatient Medicine Team (2 Months)
- Emergency Medicine (1 Month)
- Critical Care / Pulmonology (1 Month)
- Multi-Disciplinary Studies (MDS) (1 Month)
- Behavioral Health (1 Month)
- Pediatrics – Inpatient (1 Month)
- Family Medicine Clinic (1 Month)
- Urgent Care (1 Month)
- Dermatology (1 Month)
- Electives (2 Months)
PGY 3
Residents in the final year of training hone their learning plan and structure electives and experiences to maximize training to prepare for future autonomous practice.
Family Practice Clinic: 3-5 half days per week for a minimum of 40 weeks per year and approximately 700 hours in clinic

- Any Rotation in which more experience is desired.

- Osteopathic-focused scholarly activity, including regional case poster presentations
- Three full-time osteopathic faculty to teach, precept and model osteopathic principles
