Atrium Cafe is open Monday-Friday 7am-3pm. Cafeteria
Our cafeteria is located on Level 1.

  • Dinner 4pm – 6pm

Saturday – Sunday

  • Breakfast 8am – 9:30am
  • Cont. Breakfast 9:30am – 11am

Vending machines are located in the ER and next to the cafeteria.
The coffee shop is located in the Atrium and is open 7am-3pm.

Information Desk

Patient information
Patients go directly to the registrar at the front desk. The registrar will then assist the patient with any patient room information and direct them to the appropriate location as needed.

Outpatient Registration
Patients presents to the information desk and the registrar will then direct the patient into a cubicle to complete the registration process. Once the registration is complete the patient will be directed to the appropriate area to wait for their testing. Patient needs to present their insurance card and photo identification

ER Registration
The patient will present to the Emergency Room and will be asked basic demographic information to complete the registration. Once the patient has been triaged by a nurse and seen by the provider, the registrar will come in and complete the registration. Patient needs to present their insurance card and photo identification.

Same Day Surgery Registration
The patient goes directly to the Same Day Surgery Desk, in the Atrium and checks-in.
The Customer Service Liaison will ask for your name and the person you brought with you.
They will get both phone numbers and give you a pager to let you know when to come back to the desk.
You will get a card with a tracking number: This tracking number will be listed on the electronic board, outside of the Same Day Surgery doors to keep you informed.
Patient will be taken to the Surgical Registration office, behind the desk, for registration and to obtain a medical wrist band. The patient will wait in the Atrium until the Nurse calls them back for prep
Once prep is completed, the family will be called back to wait with the patient until surgery begins.
Once the patient is taken to the OR the family member will wait in the Atrium until the surgery is complete
Text messages will be sent to your companion’s phone when the surgery starts and when the patient goes to the recovery room
Upon completion of surgery, the physician will discuss procedure outcomes with the family.
A family member can go into Same Day Surgery and wait with the patient once they are ready for visitors.
If the patient is admitted, the nurse will find out what room the patient will be taken to and let the family member know.

Weekend Surgeries
The patient comes to the inpatient holding from the unit.
The family is told to wait in the Atrium until the physician comes out to talk to them. Once the patient has recovered, a nurse will call out and let the family know the patient is going to their room.

In Room Services

Each room is equipped with a nurse-call system, telephone, television, and wireless internet (WiFi). Your room will be a clean and comfortable place for you and your visitors. If you have concerns regarding the cleanliness of your room, or if you find that your TV, bed, lights, or other features of your room do not work properly, please let us know so that we can help.

Food Service Times
The patient menu has been added to your admission folder. Additional menus are available on every patient unit. On the back of the menu, you will see other menu options that you may prefer. By calling the Nutrition Office at 304-797-6185 by the following times, you can order any of the options.

Breakfast: 6:30 am
Lunch: 10:30 am
Dinner: 2:30 pm”

Spiritual Care

WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center is glad to accommodate your need for pastoral care and other spiritual services. The Interfaith Prayer Room/Chapel is located on Level 6 of the main hospital. If you have any questions, please talk to your nurse.

Wi-Fi

Computers, tablets, and smartphones with wireless capability can connect to the internet with FriendsConnect, a free, wireless service provided by Friends of WVU Hospitals. If you have trouble with your internet connection, please call the WVU Medicine Help Desk at 304-598-4357. This number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
