Investigational Drug Services
WVU Medicine Investigational Drug Services (IDS) is a licensed research pharmacy that provides comprehensive pharmacy services to support the safe and effective use of investigational medications in clinical trials. IDS assures compliance with FDA standards and handles, stores, and controls investigational drugs for investigators, clinical research coordinators, and study monitors.
Services provided by WVU Medicine IDS include:
- Investigational drug storage with secured access
- Protocol review and implementation
- Inventory management
- 24-hour monitoring of storage temperatures with TempTrak
- Maintaining drug accountability records with Vestigo
- Facilitating monitor visits
- Responding to inquiries from study teams and sponsors
- Preparing and dispensing medication
- Developing and issuing invoices
- Reviewing order sets and treatment plans
