About WATCHMAN®

WATCHMAN® and WATCHMAN FLX® Left Atrial Appendage Closure Implants

For patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib) who are at risk for stroke but cannot take blood thinners, the WATCHMAN® and WATCHMAN FLX® Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure implants offer a safe and effective alternative to reduce stroke risk.

This next-generation, minimally invasive procedure is designed to treat patients safely and efficiently, providing long-term protection against AFib-related stroke. As a relatively new and innovative option for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, WATCHMAN technology gives patients who previously had limited options a way to reduce stroke risk without lifelong blood-thinning medications.

The device works by closing off the left atrial appendage (LAA), a small area of the heart where harmful blood clots can form. By sealing the LAA, WATCHMAN helps prevent clots from entering the bloodstream and causing a stroke. Over time, many patients are able to stop taking blood-thinning medications.

WATCHMAN has been successfully implanted in over 100,000 patients worldwide. It is a one-time, permanent device that does not need to be replaced and is completely internal, with no visible components outside the body.
