Electrophysiology (EP) and Arrhythmia
Highly trained and experienced specialists keep your heart on the right beat.
Cardiac Electrophysiology specializes in diseases affecting the electrical system of the heart that cause it to beat too fast or too slow. In addition to causing symptoms, such diseases may predispose to early death. We offer medical treatment, minimally invasive catheter-based ablation, access to minimally invasive and robotic surgical ablation, and implantation of various devices (pacemaker, defibrillator). The Cardiac Electrophysiology Section serves all WVU Medicine locations. Ambulatory care is available throughout the state, and in-home monitoring is provided for all patients with implanted devices. State-of-the-art Procedure Portfolio, including:
- Ablation of atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia
- Ablation of ventricular tachycardia
- Cardioverter-defibrillator system implantation, including transvenous, subcutaneous, and substernal systems
- Pacemaker system implantation, including transvenous and leadless pacemakers
- Cardiac resynchronization therapies, including left ventricular, bundle of His, and left bundle branch area pacing
- Transvenous lead management, including complex extraction
