Clinical Advancement for Professional Excellence (CAPE) Clinical Ladder for RNs
The Clinical Advancement for Professional Excellence (CAPE) Program is a WVU Medicine system wide clinical advancement program (clinical ladder) for hospital based, direct care registered nurses. Watch WVU Medicine nurses throughout our system talk about the benefits of the CAPE Program.
Transition to Practice and Nurse Residency Programs
Our Transition to Practice programs are designed to support newly licensed nurses as they move from academic preparation into professional clinical practice. These structured programs provide comprehensive onboarding, organizational enculturation, mentorship, and continuing education to help new nurses build confidence, competence, and resilience in their roles.
Available throughout our health system, these programs foster a supportive environment that promotes clinical excellence, professional growth, and long-term career success. By bridging the gap between education and practice, we ensure our nurses are well prepared to deliver safe, high-quality care from day one.
