Speech Therapy
Speech therapists at Summersville Regional Medical Center assess and treat patients with verbal communication challenges and teach patients skills to restore the ability to communicate, either in a normal or assisted manner.
Our skilled professionals treat a variety of conditions that may be congenital or acquired from a neurological disorder, stroke, traumatic brain injury, or dementia, including:
- Speech disorders (misarticulation of sounds or stuttering, speech-language delay)
- Cognitive-communication disorders (organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning, and problem solving)
- Swallowing disorders, including feeding issues
Based on your individual condition, our therapists will use a variety of tools and techniques to help restore your communication abilities. We provide sensory play for children, teach American Sign Language, and assist with low- and high-tech augmentative and alternative communication devices.
We accept most major insurance and physician referrals.
