Salary

  • First year: $61,000
  • Second year: $63,000
  • Third year: $65,000

Meals

  • $120/month meal allowance

Educational Leave

  • PGY-1: up to three days, $1,000
  • PGY-2: up to five days, $1,000
  • PGY-3: up to five days, $1,000, plus $500 for board review
  • one day for board exam

Cost of the following courses: CPR, ACLS
Book allowance of $200 per year

Health Insurance

  • Various plans are available for resident and family. The intern/resident shares in the premium for Health insurance, with the hospital paying a significant portion.

Paid Time Off

  • PGY-1: 15 days + 1 floating holiday
  • PGY-2: 15 days + 1 floating holiday

(Paid time off is administered according to the regulations of the ACGME)

Miscellaneous

  • Two lab coats for each resident per academic year.
  • West Virginia medical license fee.

  • Six holidays each year including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Membership at the Howard Long Wellness Center.

Housing

  • Housing in the local area is very affordable and includes a variety of options from apartments and condos to single-family homes. The hospital offers a limited number of houses adjacent to the hospital campus for rent based on their availability.
