Our Growth
As a full member of the WVU Health System, Uniontown Hospital is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Eastern Ohio. Today, the WVU Health System, which operates under the brand WVU Medicine, has more than 3,400 licensed beds, 4,600 providers, and 35,000 employees.
Since joining the System in 2020, Uniontown Hospital has expanded its services by partnering with WVU Medicine’s institutes and signature programs, including:
- Opening a cancer and infusion center in conjunction with the WVU Cancer Institute
- Adding a neurosurgeon in collaboration with the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute
- Reopening its Birthing Center in partnership with WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s and welcoming its 100th baby five months later
- Expanding cardiac care services with the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute
Uniontown Hospital has also expanded its technological capabilities with the addition of:
- A da Vinci Surgical System® Xi robot for robotic-assisted surgical procedures
- Artificial intelligence-powered diabetic eye screenings within a primary care setting
- The Ceribell point-of-care EEG, which allows providers to quickly identify and treat seizures
Uniontown Hospital has partnered with community organizations to address community needs including:
- Introducing Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services, Inc. within the primary care setting
- Facilitating monthly general cancer support group through Cancer Bridges
- Providing child safety seats to families in need through the Community Foundation of Fayette County’s Catalyst for Change Grant
