Volunteer Opportunities
WVU Medicine Grant Memorial Hospital Volunteers and Auxiliary provide a variety of services within the hospital and in our local tri-county community.
Auxiliary
The Grant Hospital Auxiliary is a nonprofit organization responsible for overseeing the financial management of the GMH Cancer Center Comfort Fund and the GMH Cancer Center Survivorship Program. The Auxiliary also sponsors Healthy Saturday, a monthly event that provides participants with discounted rates on basic laboratory tests.
Committed to supporting both the hospital and the surrounding community, the Auxiliary actively promotes hospital services and contributes financial assistance for essential medical equipment to help ensure high-quality patient care. In addition, the organization awards two scholarships each year to graduating seniors who plan to pursue degrees in healthcare-related fields.
Adult Volunteer Program
To participate in the Adult Volunteer Program, applicants must be 18 years or older. Volunteers may work in a variety of hospital departments.
Jr. Volunteer Program (Ages 14-18)
A Junior Volunteer Program for high school teens is available at WVU Medicine Grant Memorial Hospital. Participants must have parental permission and be 14 years of age and have completed the 8th grade.
Job Shadowing
The Job Shadowing Program is an unpaid career exploration opportunity where the participant is allowed to observe a healthcare professional and ask questions about their career. This is an observational experience only that does not allow direct hands-on patient care. Participants must be 16 years of age with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
