WVU Medicine Employee Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefit plan to our non-union employees.

Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage

WVU Medicine is committed to supporting health and wellness with access to affordable, high-quality care with a comprehensive medical and prescription drug program designed to meet the needs of employees and their families. Options include a 90% PPO plan and High-Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account to tailor the coverage to your needs.

For those employees who reside outside WVUM Medicine’s service area (states other than West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania) an 80% PPO Plan is offered (residency requirements apply).

All medical plan options include a comprehensive prescription drug plan, including access to many medications for $0. WVU Medicine also offers a wellness program, to support your health and wellbeing journey.

Dental and Vision Coverage

Two dental plan options are offered through United Concordia with access to providers nationwide. The plans offer 100% preventative care with a generous plan maximum.

To support your vision needs, WVU Medicine offers a vision plan administered by VSP.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

A Healthcare FSA and a Dependent Care FSA are offered to help you pay healthcare and dependent care expenses on a pre tax basis.

Life Insurance Coverage

To ensure your family is supported should something unexpected occur, WVU Medicine offers a generous life insurance program with the option to purchase additional coverage for you, your spouse, and dependent children. Eligible employees are provided with employer covered Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at 1.5 times the annual base salary. Maximums apply.

Voluntary Benefits

A variety of employee paid voluntary benefits are offered to help protect you and your family’s wellbeing and truly tailor your benefits to your needs. Supplemental medical plans, including Critical Illness and Accident and Hospital Indemnity insurances, are offered. In addition, a variety of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits can also be elected including legal services, identity theft protection, and pet wellness.

Employee Assistance Program

Wellbeing is important. To support you, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all employees and members of their household. EAP services include emotional support, daily life assistance with child/elder care, legal and financial services, wellbeing discounts, and more.

Paid Time Off and Holidays

A generous Paid Time Off (PTO) program is offered to eligible employees, up to five and half weeks of time, to give employees time away from work to relax and focus on their wellbeing. Eligibility is immediate and based on your role and years of service. Time is available for use as soon as it is accrued.  

In addition, employees receive seven paid holidays, including one floating holiday. To ensure employees are able to take time to celebrate, holidays are offered outside of PTO, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy the time immediately.

Disability Programs

To ensure you have protection from the unexpected, full time employees are eligible for employer paid short term disability (STD) and long term disability (LTD). Part time employees can elect STD coverage. STD and LTD are effective from the first of the month following 90 days from hire date.

Retirement Plans

Employees have access to a comprehensive retirement plan with an opportunity to save for retirement through pre tax and post tax payroll deduction options and an employer matching contribution. The plan offers employees a retirement contribution, tools, and resources to prepare for a secure retirement.

Student Loan Assistance Program

WVU Medicine supports employees through their education. Full time employees with 90 days of service are eligible for a Student Loan Assistance Program. The program offers employees an employer contribution to help pay off student debt sooner.

Tuition Programs

Education is important for both you and your dependent children.  Should you desire to earn a degree, we offer a tuition reimbursement program to support you. WVU Medicine also offers a generous program to help your eligible dependents with their college degree.

University Health Associates

WVU Medicine offers a comprehensive benefits plan for Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers and Licensed Professionals that are employed by University Health Associates and work at WVU Medicine locations.
