Your Hospital Stay

Our entire staff, working closely with the physicians, is concerned with making every patient’s stay with us as comfortable as possible. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. Remember: we are here, because we care about you. Learn more about the amenities we offer to patients and visitors.

Registration

If your stay with us is scheduled, please stop by the Registration Desk when you arrive. To make your registration as easy as possible, please present your insurance cards, Medicare or Medicaid card, photo identification, list of current medications, a copy of any advance directive document, and a copy of any living will document.

As a courtesy to you, we file claims with your insurance company. If your policy requires pre-certification, it is your responsibility to notify your doctor of this requirement. Your insurance company may reduce your insurance payment if the pre-certification guidelines are not followed.

Please call 740-425-3941 if you have any questions about your admission.

Meals

Patients are served breakfast between 7:30 and 8 am, lunch between 11:30 am and noon, and dinner between 4:30 and 5 pm. In special circumstances, a patient’s family member may request to have their meal delivered to the patient room. This must be done in advance and a bill will be sent on the tray for which the visitor will be asked to pay in the cafeteria.

Cell phone use

Patients and families can use personal mobile devices in all areas of Barnesville Hospital, unless restricted by specific unit policies. It is fine to use phones to photograph the patient and family members; however, taking photographs of other patients, visitors, and staff is strictly prohibited.

Hospital room phones

Friends and family may dial 425-5045 with the appropriate extension number for a direct connect to your room or may call 425-3941 for the hospital switchboard operator. The patient extension numbers are posted on the bulletin board to give to friends and family. Patient direct calling is only allowed between 7 am and 9 pm.

Tobacco use

For the health of our patients, visitors, and staff, we ask that you please refrain from using tobacco of any form, including e-cigarettes and vapor products, at all Barnesville Hospital clinics and facilities, including parking lots and garages.

Prescriptions

Barnesville Hospital has an inpatient pharmacy for your prescription needs while you are in the hospital, and we will make arrangements at your preferred pharmacy when you leave the hospital. The pharmacy is open from 7 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 7 am to 4:30 pm on weekends and holidays.

Social services

Supportive counseling is available for inpatients, terminal patients and their families, or any patient facing crisis situations. Social Services also provides coordinated discharge planning services to assist pediatric through geriatric patients/families to develop appropriate and timely discharge plans, including, but not limited to, nursing home placement, rehabilitation placement, in-home services, durable medical equipment, and transportation.

A social worker or discharge planning nurse may be contacted via phone by either the nursing or floor supervisor, should a problem, question, or crisis arise after-hours.

Special communications needs

Arrangements can also be made to have a person who uses sign language help a hearing impaired or deaf patient. If a patient’s eyesight is limited, they can ask any member of our staff to assist them by reading written information. The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages, should a patient require it.
