Wheeling Hospital is excited to present an opportunity for you to join our Family Medicine Residency.

The Residency Program was established in 1975, and has graduated more than 200 family medicine physicians. Many former residents are practicing physicians in the area, and some are faculty members providing education to new residents. We also added an Osteopathic Residency where the osteopathic residents train side-by-side with their allopathic colleagues while gaining the additional skills unique to osteopathic medicine. Our program offers a variety of features to help you attain your career goals. It also combines the small town atmosphere with access to cultural, educational, sports and entertainment activities in nearby large cities.

Highlights of the Family Medicine Residency Program

Family Medicine is the only residency program based at Wheeling Hospital, affording residents the opportunity to work directly with primary care physicians and specialists. The Family Medicine Residency is an 8-8-8 program with an Osteopathic-focused education track.

Residents can gain additional experience in areas of interest including: Obstetrics, Sports Medicine, Hospitalist Care, Geriatrics, Long-Term Nursing Care.

The Ambulatory Continuity Clinic is conducted in the Family Medicine Center and uses a team approach. It is designed to parallel practice in a private office setting. Additional ambulatory components occur in affiliated physician offices.
