Two WVU Medicine Medical Group Practices maintain national recognition for patient-centered care

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has announced that the Medical Group Practices at both the WVU Medicine Physician Office Center and the WVU Medicine University Town Centre has maintained NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition. This is the second time that WVU Medicine practices have been recognized by the NCQA, first receiving recognition in 2017.

Practices recognized by the NCQA as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) demonstrate evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on coordinated care and long-term, participative relationships.

“The PCMH team at our Medical Group Practices have continued to work on enhancing and transforming our clinics since first receiving recognition three years ago in order to continually better serve our patients.  We could not have once again achieved this recognition without the hard work of our nursing staff, our Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine/Pediatrics resident physicians, and our faculty physicians. Having a great team is imperative to the PCMH process, and I am fortunate to have the hardest working group around,” said Kelley Gannon, M.D., who led the Medical Group Practice PCMH initiative initially in 2017 and its renewal this year.

The NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of primary care that combines teamwork and information technology to patient to improve patients’ experience of care and reduce costs. Medical homes foster ongoing partnerships between patients and their personal clinicians.

Along with these Medical Group Practices, multiple other WVU Medicine clinics have obtained NCQA PCMH Recognition.
