Virtual mindfulness series scheduled to begin Oct. 2
Mindful Steps is a free 6-week series designed to develop mindful resilience, mental fitness, and improved relaxation response. Participants can attend six one-hour sessions that offer a variety of simple yet practical tools to be mindful in daily living.
The series will feature a team of expert instructors with decades of combined mindfulness experience, featuring neuroscientist Julie Brefczynski-Lewis, clinical therapist Laurel Faulkenberry, and yoga teacher Heidi Sherwin.
All sessions will take place virtually every Thursday at noon Oct. 2 - Nov. 6 with the series objectives as follows:
- Introduce a toolbox of mindfulness techniques
- Educate about stress resilience
- Develop mind/body connection skills
- Reconnect to the joy and meaning in the healthcare professions
- Improve personal and professional quality of life
Employees of WVU Medicine and WVU students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend the series free of charge.
WVU Medicine employees and covered spouses enrolled in a company-sponsored medical plan will earn points for the plan year 2026 Wellness Rewards Program by attending 4 of 6 live Mindful Steps noon sessions. Recordings of each session will be available on the Mindful Steps YouTube Channel.
