Take Care Tuesdays
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital is making it easier to make your health a priority.
Every Tuesday in October, women can take advantage of Take Care Tuesdays, featuring walk-in screening mammograms from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital Outpatient Diagnostic Center. No appointment is needed.
Whether you’ve been putting off your mammogram or simply need to check it off your to-do list, Take Care Tuesdays offers a convenient way to get this important screening done on your schedule.
Walk in. Get screened. Take care of you.
Early detection can make a difference. Grab a friend, wear your pink, and make a Tuesday in October the day you take care of yourself.
Before you come:
- Your last mammogram must have been more than one year ago
- Please bring your physician’s script/order
- No appointment is necessary

October 22 Pink Out: Lunch & Learn
Join WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital for a special Breast Cancer Awareness Lunch & Learn on Thursday, October 22, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Community Room.
Our experts will share the latest information about breast cancer care, including advancements in surgery and treatment, as well as the resources available to help patients navigate their care.
Featured speakers include Andrew Licata, MD, Surgeon; Nadia Baka, MD, Hematology and Oncology; and Amy Matyas, BSN, RN, OCN, Nurse Navigator.
The event is free and open to the community, and lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

Hear from Dr. DiPietro about advanced breast imaging and early detection, Jennifer Rittenhouse-Puhak, MD, about advancements in breast surgery, and Amy Matyas, BSN, RN, OCN, Nurse Navigator, about the support and resources available to patients throughout their breast cancer journey.
Come early and be part of our Pink Out activities, with vendors available from 1–6 p.m. and basket raffles benefiting breast cancer awareness.

Breast Cancer Survivor: Betsy Hanzes
Betsy Hanzes found herself facing a second bout of breast cancer and was referred to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital breast surgeon, Dr. Jennifer Rittenhouse-Puhak, who later performed her mastectomy. Despite concerns about recovery, Betsy says she rebounded quickly and is doing well.
