Free Community Health Screening
Uniontown Hospital will host a free Community Health Screening from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, in the Hospital’s Community Room to help attendees identify health concerns that may not yet be causing noticeable symptoms.
Free screenings will include:
- Vascular pedal pulse checks, which assess circulation in the legs and feet by checking the strength of pulses near the ankle and foot
- Modified ankle-brachial index screenings, which compare circulation in the arms and ankles to help identify signs that may be associated with peripheral artery disease
- Cardiac rhythm checks to determine whether a participant appears to be in a normal heart rhythm or may have an irregular rhythm, such as atrial fibrillation, commonly called AFib
- Biometric testing, including blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and body mass index measurements
- Modified DEXA screenings to provide information related to bone health and possible bone-density concerns
- Orthopedic joint assessments to evaluate mobility, discomfort, and other potential bone and joint concerns
- Car seat safety checks for parents and caregivers
Free camo hat for first 200 to register
Community members who preregister for the event will receive a complimentary WVU Medicine camouflage hat while supplies last, a reminder that just because you can’t see a health problem doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Don't miss camouflaged symptoms
Many serious health conditions, including heart disease, peripheral artery disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and atrial fibrillation, can develop quietly without obvious symptoms. Like camouflage, these conditions can remain hidden until they become more advanced, which is why early screenings are so important.
The screenings are intended to provide preliminary health information and do not replace a complete medical examination or diagnostic testing. Participants with concerning results may be advised to contact their primary care provider or schedule an appointment with an appropriate specialist.
