Our Growth

Thomas Hospitals has experienced significant growth and expansion since becoming a member of WVU Medicine. Together, Thomas and WVU Medicine have supported transformative capital investments, both on the Thomas Memorial Hospital campus as well as the Saint Francis campus in downtown Charleston.

On January 1, 2023, Thomas Hospitals became a full member of WVU Medicine. The partnership means access to new specialties, advanced technologies, expert physicians, and modernized facilities, all working in harmony to deliver superior care.

Thomas Hospitals serves as a vital southern regional hub for the health system, enabling WVU Medicine to reach more of the state’s residents to improve overall health outcomes.

Expansion is ongoing with the establishment of some of WVU Medicine’s highest level of medical and surgical services, including neurosurgery, advanced open-heart surgery, and complex medical care.
