During Your Visit
In Room Services
Each room is equipped with a nurse-call system, telephone, television, and wireless intranet – at no extra charge.
Your room will be a clean and comfortable place for you and your visitors. If you have concerns regarding the cleanliness of your room or find that certain features of your room do not work properly, please let us know, so we can help.
- Telephone Service
Telephones are provided free of charge in patient rooms. Family and friends may call you from outside the hospital by dialing the phone number provided to you. You may also dial outside the hospital using the phone in your room. Cell phone usage may be restricted in some areas of the hospital. Please check before using your cell phone. - Television (TV)
Each hospital room is equipped with cable television. A list of available channels is available upon request. Your TV can be operated by using the control device located near your bed. For the deaf or hard of hearing, all TVs are equipped with closed caption capabilities.
Please set your television volume at a comfortable hearing level so as not to disturb other patients. - Meals
Our dietary staff will come to your room to help you select your menu choices for meals. - How to Call for Assistance
Please use the call system in your room and a staff member will respond.
Dining and Vending
Good nutrition is an important part of your healing process. Special diets have been recommended for you as part of your plan of care to help you recover. If the available menu does not appeal to you, please ask your Food & Nutrition Hostess for additional options. If you have any questions about nutrition, diet restrictions or have any other food concern or request, please ask your nurse.
The Potomac Valley Hospital dining facility offers a selection of hot and cold foods.
Cafeteria hours:
Breakfast: 6:30 to 9:30 am
Lunch: 11 am to 1 pm
Open 7 days a week
Vending machines are available within the hospital.
Spiritual Care
Potomac Valley Hospital accommodates the right to pastoral and other spiritual services for patients. At times, a volunteer clergy may be present on site to offer support. Please note that the availability of volunteer clergy is not guaranteed and may vary based on scheduling and volunteer availability. If you are in need of spiritual care, we will do our best to connect you with appropriate resources upon request.
Gift Shop
The Volunteer Gift Shop is located at the front of the hospital in the main lobby and offers a variety of items.

Wi-Fi
Computers, tablets, and smartphones with wireless capability can connect to the internet with FriendsConnect, a free, wireless service provided by Friends of WVU Hospitals. If you have trouble with your internet connection, please call the WVU Medicine Help Desk at 304-598-4357. This number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
