Loar Auxiliary History
The Loar Auxiliary, named to commemorate the hospital’s original benefactor, was founded in 1951 to support the needs of the newly-constructed community hospital. The Loar Gift Shop was established in 1976. The gift shop moved to its current location in the hospital lobby in 2007, and in 2017 it reached the major milestone of having raised $1 million in proceeds for GRMC.
Today the bustling shop is operated by enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about the hospital auxiliary’s charitable mission. The Loar Gift Shop volunteers are dedicated to assisting customers, keeping merchandise fresh and well-stocked, and always maintaining a clean, cheery showroom.
