WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals Cuts Ribbon on Newly Renovated Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va.WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate the opening of its newly renovated Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center at the Thomas Orthopedic Hospital on the Saint Francis campus. The facility officially opened to patients on October 20, 2025, following extensive renovations designed to enhance patient care and expand both physical and occupational therapy services.

The Thomas Orthopedic Hospital is the first of its kind in West Virginia, offering expanded inpatient and outpatient orthopedic services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and skilled nursing all under one roof. The newly renovated rehabilitation space strengthens this unique, comprehensive model of care by integrating upgraded therapy equipment, improved treatment areas, and an enhanced environment focused on exceptional patient recovery.

With the opening of the renovated center, Thomas Hospitals now operates two Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation locations serving the region: the Thomas Orthopedic Hospital and the Riverwalk Campus in South Charleston.
“This renovation reflects our commitment to investing in advanced, patient-focused rehabilitation services for the communities we serve,” said Greg Rosencrance, M.D., president and CEO of Thomas Hospitals. “By enhancing our therapy facilities within the state’s first comprehensive orthopedic hospital, we are expanding access to high-quality care that helps patients heal, regain strength, and return to the lives they love.”
