WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals is pleased to announce the installation of the MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI, a state-of-the-art scanner that provides clearer images, quicker exams, and improved comfort for patients.
“MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI represents a dramatic leap forward in MRI technology, and exemplifies our commitment to excellence,” said Roger Rhodes, Chief Operating Officer, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals. “By taking automation and personalization to the next level, our new MRI scanner virtually eliminates patient and user variability, resulting in consistent, high-quality images across all of our patients and procedures.”
The MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI uses BioMatrix Technology, which allows the machine to automatically adjust to each patient’s body and needs. This means fewer repeat scans, more reliable results, and better images for doctors to use when diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
The new system also features a larger, more open design that helps patients feel more comfortable during their exam. Lightweight equipment and special “free-breathing” features allow many patients to relax and breathe normally while being scanned. In addition, the scanner works faster, reducing the time patients spend inside the machine.
“This upgrade brings world-class imaging capabilities directly to our community,” Greg Rosencrance, M.D., president and CEO of Thomas Hospitals, said. “The improved speed and accuracy of this system will help our providers diagnose conditions earlier and more precisely, ultimately leading to better outcomes for our patients.”
The new 3T MRI is now available at the Outpatient Diagnostic Center at Ashton, located at 1095 Fledderjohn Road, Charleston, WV 25314. The center is open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, and appointments can be scheduled by calling 304-766-3726.
With the addition of the MAGNETOM Lumina 3T MRI, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals continues to enhance patient care by investing in advanced technology that supports fast, precise, and comfortable imaging.
