WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital to Host West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy for Rising 11th and 12th Graders
Buckhannon, WV – WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital is excited to announce that it will once again host the West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy for rising 11th and 12th grade students, including those who are homeschooled. This unique educational opportunity will take place over three days during a choice of one of the two sessions: July 15-17 and July 27-29.
The program is designed to give students a firsthand experience of the healthcare field, offering valuable insights into various medical careers and hospital departments. Throughout the Academy, students will participate in hands-on activities such as first aid training & CPR, respiratory therapy, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as lessons in vital signs, suturing, interview skills, care of the newborn, and more. Additionally, students will tour various hospital departments and shadow healthcare professionals, gaining a deeper understanding of the medical field and the day-to-day operations of a hospital.
Interested students should submit their application by scanning the QR code below or by following this link: https://forms.office.com/r/rYRRi8VQRB. There is no cost to attend the Academy, and meals and scrubs will be provided to all participants. We encourage students to apply quickly as space is limited to 12 students per session and the application deadline is June 8th.
WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is proud to offer this opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of healthcare professionals. This Academy not only provides students with valuable learning experiences but also fosters an interest in pursuing careers in nursing and other healthcare fields.
