PCH hosted National Cancer Prevention Month mural reveal
Princeton, WV – WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) hosted a National Cancer Prevention Month mural reveal in partnership with the Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Communities.
As part of National Cancer Prevention Month, the hospital and the Coalition collaborated to display a community-created mural symbolizing hope, prevention, and early detection. The mural serves as a visual reminder of the importance of cancer awareness and the region’s shared commitment to reducing cancer risk and improving outcomes across the Two Virginias.
During the event, Bowling emphasized the importance of changing the narrative around cancer care in the region. “Our vision is that the story of cancer in this region will no longer be about high mortality, but about survival, strength, and renewed life,” Bowling said. “This mural represents hope for our community and reinforces our commitment to prevention, early detection, and expanding access to high-quality cancer care close to home.”
Bowling also highlighted the hospital’s upcoming, 45,000-square-foot cancer center, a more than $35 million investment and the largest investment in cancer care ever made in the region, noting it will allow patients to see their physician and receive treatment in one convenient location.
Hospital leadership, coalition members, and community partners gathered to recognize the meaningful partnership and the collective effort to strengthen cancer prevention and education throughout the region.
