Potomac Valley Hospital honors National Donate Life Month with CORE Flag Raising Ceremony

Keyser, W.Va. – On Friday, April 3rd, staff at Potomac Valley Hospital gathered to honor National Donate Life Month with a meaningful flag-raising ceremony featuring the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE).

The event marked a powerful moment of reflection and gratitude as the CORE flag was raised in recognition of the life-saving impact of organ, tissue, and cornea donation. Staff were joined by representatives from Center for Organ Recovery & Education, whose partnership with area hospitals helps ensure that every possible opportunity for donation is identified and honored.

The ceremony served as a tribute to organ, tissue, and cornea donors, as well as the recipients whose lives have been transformed through the gift of donation. Hospital staff also recognized the families who make the courageous and compassionate decision to give the gift of life during some of life’s most difficult moments.

CORE plays a vital role throughout the region by working closely with hospitals and communities to educate the public about donation, support donor families, and facilitate the organ and tissue recovery process that makes transplantation possible.

Observed each April, National Donate Life Month serves as a nationwide campaign to encourage individuals to register as organ donors and to discuss their wishes with loved ones. Currently, more than 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for a life-saving transplant, and one donor can save up to eight lives while enhancing many more through tissue donation.
