Potomac Valley Hospital honors Hannah Halterman, RN III, with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
Keyser, W.V. – WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital is proud to recognize Hannah Halterman, RN III, of the emergency department and intensive care unit, as the recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families every day. Hannah was nominated by patients, families, and colleagues for her dedication, professionalism, and compassionate approach to patient care.
The patient shared how Hannah was quick to respond and made the best decision for the course of treatment needed. The patient praised Hannah for being professional, willing to listen to suggestions, and exceeding both the patient’s and family’s expectations throughout the hospital stay.
“Hannah is a great person to care for patients and represent Potomac Valley Hospital,” the patient wrote in the nomination.
Hospital leadership also recognized Hannah for her exceptional commitment to both patients and colleagues.
“Hannah is a highly skilled and dedicated nurse who consistently demonstrates professionalism and a strong commitment to her role,” management shared. “She actively supports her team, willingly taking on responsibilities with a positive and solutions-focused approach. She is dependable and flexible, readily assisting in other departments to meet staffing needs and stepping in to work any shift when called upon. Her versatility is a valuable asset to the entire facility.”
Management also noted that Hannah’s clinical competence and compassionate, patient-centered care set a high standard within her practice. In addition, she is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment while continually striving to improve both patient care and team dynamics.
The DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family after he passed away from complications of an autoimmune disease. The foundation’s mission is to recognize nurses for the extraordinary and compassionate care they provide.
