Harrison Community Hospital holds Donate Life Month flag raising ceremony

CADIZ, OHIO –WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital hosted a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, April 6, in honor of National Donate Life Month, a nationwide observance dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation.  

The event brought together hospital staff and representatives from Lifebanc to recognize the generosity of donors and the lasting legacy they leave behind.  

“As we raise the Donate Life flag, we extend our sincere gratitude to Harrison Community Hospital and its dedicated staff for their ongoing partnership and commitment to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation,” Alicia Strang, director of Hospital Services for Lifebanc, said at the event. 

“Your compassion, professionalism, and support for patients and families during critical moments make the gift of life possible. Together, we honor donors and their families, and we continue to inspire hope and healing in our community.” 

The flag-raising ceremony serves as a powerful symbol of unity and remembrance, honoring those who have given the gift of life while also encouraging others to consider registering as donors.  

Throughout the month of April, WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital and  organizations across the country are promoting education and awareness surrounding donation and transplantation. 

In addition to the ceremony, an educational table featuring donation resources and information is available for visitors, along with a pinwheel garden displayed at the hospital’s main entrance. The garden serves as a visual tribute to donors and recipients, symbolizing hope, healing, and the lives impacted by the generosity of organ donation.
