Camden Clark welcomes seventh cohort of WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program Students
WVU Medicine Camden Clark hosted a signing ceremony Thursday, Aug. 27, to recognize 12 local nursing students selected for the WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program, an initiative designed to support future nurses through education and into the workforce.
The ceremony honored students from West Virginia Junior College and West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
WVU Medicine’s Aspiring Nurse Program provides nursing students with financial support for day-to-day living expenses. Accepted students receive up to $25,000 across four semesters, which includes a sign-on bonus upon hire, in exchange for a three-year work commitment at a WVU Medicine hospital following graduation.
Students accepted into the Mid-Ohio Valley’s seventh cohort of the Aspiring Nurse Program will complete all clinical rotations at WVU Medicine Camden Clark, gaining hands-on clinical experience as they prepare to transition into professional nursing practice. The program also pairs students with dedicated academic success coaches and retention specialists to support their academic and professional growth.
“The WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program extends far beyond traditional financial aid. It was established to provide critical support for living expenses, helping to alleviate barriers that can make completing a nursing education difficult,” said Sean Smith, president and CEO of Camden Clark. “As one of the pilot hospitals when the Aspiring Nurse Program launched, Camden Clark has seen firsthand how impactful this support can be, and we’re thrilled to offer this one-of-a-kind program in the Mid-Ohio Valley. We look forward to welcoming our seventh cohort and further strengthening a pipeline of highly trained nurses who will care for patients and families across our region for years to come.”
