MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Monongalia County residents requiring home health services can now get the care they need from WVU Medicine.
“We know that it can be difficult to find the appropriate at-home medical care that patients need. Whether they are recovering from a surgery, illness, or injury, our skilled team of at-home specialists are here to ensure a smooth transition from a hospital or rehabilitation facility to home. We also offer at-home services to patients that experience a change in their health but do not require hospitalization,” Linda Carte, WVU Medicine vice president of post-acute care, said. “Our team is committed to making the transition as smooth as possible – and to get our patients back to feeling their best.”
The WVU Medicine Home Health team of nurses offers a number of comprehensive in-home services, including:
- Administration and instruction of IV infusion therapy
- Enteral tube feeding care instruction
- Foley catheter care
- Medication instruction
- Ostomy care
- Specialized assessment of individual health needs
- Specialized education program for diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia
- Wound management and dressing changes
In-home physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aides are also available.
In addition to Monongalia County, WVU Medicine Home Health provides care in Barbour, Berkeley, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jefferson, Lewis, Marion, Marshall, Nicholas, Ohio, Preston, Taylor, Upshur, Webster, Wetzel, and Wirt counties.
WVU Medicine Home Health is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a Medicare-certified agency. Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances cover home health services. The WVU Medicine team will directly bill all covered services. A physician referral is needed.
