MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Edward Harrison has joined the WVU Cancer Institute as its vice president of cancer services. His first day on the job was May 16. 
“I am extremely pleased Ed Harrison has joined the WVU Cancer Institute team,” Hannah Hazard-Jenkins, M.D., director of the WVU Cancer Institute, said. “Ed’s experience will lead our team of dedicated professionals to ensure that we continue to expand and enhance cancer care across our state and region.”
Prior to coming to Morgantown, he served in various leadership roles at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh, including executive administrator of the departments of Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery, vice president of clinical support services, and vice president of operations for the UPMC Pinnacle Health Medical Group.
Previously, Harrison was the chief operating officer and director of patient safety for the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative and held various positions with provider-sponsored managed care organizations in Memphis, Harrisburg, and Phoenix.
Harrison is passionate about organizational and programmatic development and partnering to maximize value for patients and families. He has published and presented in several national and regional forums.
Harrison earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
“I am excited to be part of WVU Medicine and eager to partner with the team to further develop and implement the Cancer Institute’s strategic vision,” he said. “My focus is to fully support the amazing team of caregivers, researchers, and educators as they provide the best cancer care as well as innovate and train to ensure an even brighter future.”
