Mark Boucot, President and CEO of Potomac Valley Hospital

Mark Boucot, President and CEO of Potomac Valley Hospital, has been named Becker’s Hospital Review, one of “67 rural hospital CEO’s to know” for 2022. This list of top executives was developed to highlight leaders from rural hospitals all across the United States. “While rural hospitals across the county have faced closure in recent years, these leaders have developed a model for not only surviving, but thriving,” says Beckers. Potomac Valley Hospital (PVH) seen exponential growth over the last four years, under the leadership of Boucot. This growth is attributed largely to the recruitment efforts bringing new physicians and services to the Mineral County community. Recently, PVH has seen the addition of a new Cancer and Infusion Center, expanded surgical operations, and innovative services such as non-narcotic pain management, integrated behavioral services, and a virtual ICU.

In addition to the growth PVH has seen in the last four years, it has even more planned in the future. In 2022, a new urgent care is planned to open, along with the expansion of most outpatient services. PVH was recently awarded an Economic Development Administration grant of $3.2 million. These funds will be used to build a workforce center to address economic factors within the community.

“I am so grateful to be a part of Potomac Valley Hospital,” says Boucot. “Watching this rural hospital and it’s staff flourish under the umbrella of WVU Medicine, has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Potomac Valley Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Keyser, West Virginia. The hospital serves the community of Mineral County, West Virginia and surrounding areas. PVH officially became a member of the West Virginia University Health System in 2014. PVH provides inpatient and outpatient care, including 24/7 Emergency Department services. PVH employs more than 250 healthcare professionals, including over 50 physicians, who are dedicated to our mission of striving to treat every patient like a member of our own family.
