Wheeling Hospital earns two American Heart Association “Get With The Guidelines” awards for dedication to best practices

WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital has received two American Heart Association (AHA) Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® achievement awards for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of Coronary Artery Disease and Stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times, and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

Both awards earned by Wheeling Hospital were Gold Plus Level, the highest designation given by the AHA. The Stroke Gold Plus Award was also given with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Type II Diabetes Honor Roll designations, and is the 4th consecutive year Wheeling Hospital has achieved such status.

Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline put the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest evidence- and research-based guidelines. As a participant in Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines programs, Wheeling Hospital qualified for the awards by demonstrating how their organization has committed to improving quality care.

This year, Wheeling Hospital received these achievement awards:

·         Gold Plus – Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving

o   Target: Type II Diabetes Honor Roll

·         Gold Plus – Stroke

o   Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite
