Princeton Community Hospital Opens New Lab to Better Serve Patients

PRINCETON, W.Va. - WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) is announcing an update to the Princeton campus that is bringing added convenience to patients. An outpatient laboratory collection area has been created at the front of the hospital adjacent to the main lobby.

Previously, patients who had lab orders from their provider went to the lab located toward the center of the hospital after registering. Now, registration and lab work can all be completed within steps of the hospital’s main entrance. The updated area will include two separate rooms for lab collections with one devoted solely to pediatric patients.

PCH administrators and lab personnel cut the ribbon to open the new lab space.

“We are very excited to announce this new location for our phlebotomy lab draw stations,” stated PCH President and CEO Karen Bowling. “Having them just off the main lobby in the front of the hospital will be a wonderful upgrade for our patients. They’re more convenient, easier to access, and easier to find.”

Existing space has been renovated to accommodate the lab. Construction began on the project in December 2023.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new lab space took place Feb. 20 and plans called for seeing the first patients there on Feb. 21. The lab will be open 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are not required.

Patients should note that the location of the Bluefield and Parkview labs has not changed.
