Candace Miller named president and CEO of WVU Medicine Jackson General Hospital
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Candace N. Miller, M.B.A., has been named the new president and CEO of WVU Medicine Jackson General Hospital in Ripley effective July 15.
Miller will take the helm from Stephanie McCoy, who is retiring as president and CEO of Jackson General Hospital holding the position for 13 years.
“We are excited to welcome Candace to Jackson General Hospital. With her expertise, we know that the future of the Hospital is very bright,” Rob Fisher, chair of the Jackson General Hospital Board of Directors, said. “We extend our most sincere thanks to Stephanie for her dedication to the patients of Jackson County, and we wish her well on her much deserved and hard-earned retirement.”
As part of her new role, Miller will report to Greg Rosencrance, M.D., president and CEO of WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals.
“I’m looking forward to having Candace join the WVU Medicine family and working alongside her to meet the healthcare needs of the people of Jackson County,” Dr. Rosencrance said. “Jackson General Hospital has a great team of providers and staff, and it will now have Candace to carry on Stephanie’s tremendous legacy of leadership.”
Miller comes to WVU Medicine from OhioHealth in Columbus, where she has worked in a variety of leadership roles. Since 2018, she has served as the corporate senior advisor responsible for systemwide internal resources overseeing and supporting capacity management and patient flow, engaging in extensive collaboration with care site CEOs and clinical leaders to develop strategic initiatives to reduce inpatient length of stay and overall operational excellence for patient flow.
Prior to that, Miller served as corporate vice president for OhioHealth and held multiple positions at its O’Bleness Hospital in Athens, including vice president and chief operating officer, vice president of clinical support services and chief ethics and compliance officer, and vice president of professional services and quality management.
A native of Mason County, Miller received her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Marshall University and then attended Colorado Technical University, where she completed a graduate-level certificate in business administration and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration on finance.
The announcement of Miller’s appointment comes just over two weeks after Jackson General Hospital cut the ribbon on its $35 million state-of-the-art patient care wing.
“It’s my honor to come home to West Virginia and assume the role of president of Jackson General Hospital, especially as it is entering a new phase with the opening of its beautiful new wing,” Miller said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and working with them to continue to provide the best care for the people of the Mid-Ohio Valley.”
