Volunteering

About Our Volunteer Program

At WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center, we are fortunate to benefit from a dedicated group of men and women who volunteer their time in support of our mission to improve the health status of Eastern Panhandle residents by providing excellence in health and wellness services, expanding access to care, and participating in the education of healthcare professionals.

Adult volunteers serve in supportive roles that do not involve direct hands on patient care. To participate in our Adult Volunteer Program, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and are asked to commit to a minimum of four (4) hours of volunteer service per week.

College students may find interest in the Job Shadowing Opportunity. The qualifications for such can be found on this page.

Additional expectations include the following:
Physical demands for volunteer positions include having the physical ability, flexibility, and endurance to be able to perform all duties of an agreed upon assigned position, for a typical 4-hour volunteer shift.

A personal email address and ability to complete online volunteer requirements is a necessary expectation to participate in our volunteer program. Satisfactory response from personal references and a background check is required to participate in our program.

Upon acceptance into the volunteer program, successful completion of employee health requirements must be met.
An annual flu vaccine (during flu season) is a mandatory requirement for all hospital staff and volunteers.
