Care Connection
WVU Medicine Care Connection gives employees and covered family members enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan the care they need.
With WVU Medicine Care Connection, you can choose a virtual visit with one of our providers from the comfort of your smartphone, computer, or tablet. Through an e-visit or video visit, we’ll review your symptoms and help guide your care. You can also reach our nurse navigators anytime by phone at 844-484-2360.
We're Here to Help
Care Connection offers convenient access to care almost anywhere, anytime helping you save both time and money. Patients in West Virginia can use virtual video visits and e-visits, and nurse navigators are available to patients in all states except Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, and Oregon.
Nurse Navigators
Nurse navigators, also known as nurses on call, are available 24/7 at 844-484-2360. These registered nurses offer immediate, expert medical guidance whenever you need it.
You may want to use this service if:
You or someone you care about isn’t feeling well
You have questions about a medical condition
A health issue suddenly worsens and you’re unsure what to do
You’re uncertain whether you should seek medical care
Your doctor’s office is closed, and you need advice
In addition to answering questions, nurse navigators can recommend when to seek medical care and help schedule appointments if needed. In some cases, they may suggest an e-visit for further evaluation.
Again, nurse navigator services are available to patients in every state except Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, and Oregon.
E-Visits
E-visits are easily available through MyWVUChart for the following conditions.
After logging in, you’ll complete a guided questionnaire. Your information will be sent either to your primary care provider or to the first available provider, depending on your selection. The provider will review your responses and recommend the appropriate next steps.
If your e-visit is handled by your own provider, you can expect a response within six business hours. If the Urgent Care option is selected, responses are typically provided within three hours when requests are submitted between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Urgent Care Video Visits
On-Demand Urgent Care video visits are available for both children and adults enrolled in a WVU Medicine Peak medical plan. These visits cost $20 whether they are scheduled in advance or completed on demand.
Patients connect face-to-face with a healthcare provider for acute, non-emergency concerns such as coughs, colds, rashes, aches, and pains. Using a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access and a webcam, you can receive care from home, work, or almost anywhere.
Local WVU Medicine providers are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 363 days a year, including evenings, weekends, and most holidays (services are not available on Thanksgiving or Christmas). National and after-hours coverage is provided through Teladoc.
To get in line for an On-Demand Urgent Care video visit, log in to MyWVUChart and follow the prompts.
About Us
The Care Connection program was designed to enhance employees’ overall healthcare experience by connecting them with the right care team at the right time. This approach ensures employees receive appropriate services when they need them most.
Effective January 1, 2025, WVU Medicine employees enrolled in a high-deductible health plan will have the cost of Care Connection services applied toward their deductible. The program continues to be free for WVU Medicine employees enrolled in a Peak Health plan.
Employees who have questions about the Care Connection program may contact Chris McCormick at [email protected] or 304-598-4085, ext. 78414.
