Cardiopulmonary Services
The Cardiopulmonary Department at Barnesville Hospital provides therapeutic and diagnostic services for patients of all ages experiencing heart and lung disorders including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care. Each year, our department sees more than 8,000 patients.
Since 2006, the Cardiopulmonary Department has been nationally recognized each year for advanced respiratory care receiving the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Award from the American Association for Respiratory Care. This award helps consumers identify facilities using qualified respiratory therapists that provide the best possible respiratory treatment.
Our highly-trained cardiopulmonary therapists treat a variety of conditions affecting the heart and lungs including:
- Asthma
- Bronchitis
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Congestive heart failure
- Dysrhythmias
- Hypothermia care
- Hypoxemia
- Inhalation injuries
- Myocardial infarction
- Pneumonia
- Pre- and post-operative care
- Respiratory failure
Outpatient diagnostic testing is provided between 8 am and 5 pm. All patients must have a written order from their physician including the type of testing/therapy to be given, medication with dosage, and the number of treatments required.
Barnesville Hospital offers a wide range of cardiopulmonary treatments including:
- Aerosol therapy including continuous bronchodilator nebulizer therapy
- Metered dose inhalers with AeroChambers
- Chest physiotherapy
- Sputum inductions
- Pulse oximetry with nocturnal assessing capacity
The department currently has adult ventilators and transport ventilators available for use, and we also assist patients with home respiratory medical equipment when ordered by your physician. Patient education is provided in all aspects of care including metered dose inhalers, tobacco cessation, and incentive spirometers.
